Love and Respect Your Adversary

Jesus Christ said that it was the Truth that would set us free. I have had many mentors and teachers along the way, but my primary teacher focused on freedom. Freedom was his god. I followed his path only to conclude that freedom was just another form of bondage. God turned into the devil, the devil turned into truth, and truth into Jesus Christ, what’s next is left undefined. Possibly the Logos but I’m not 100% sure just yet.

All of these concepts, freedom, the devil, truth, jesus christ, god, and what have you are adversarial. Ultimately, all relationships have to be. I don’t like the word enemy, because it assumes it’s one sided. In my perspective, the true nature of existence is adversarial. It can be fun, like a sport. Without an opponent, how could one grow, how could one have fun, how could one truly find themselves?

My relationship with the Jesus Christ “thing” was most interesting. It operated as my worst enemy, a coach, a sensei, and a friend, simultaneously. Again, this is just my version, I don’t want to create friction in other belief systems but I’d like to describe my god or whatever you want to call it, that was Jesus Christ. It was almost like a machine, similar in the way AI operates. Perceiving it, it was like a colorful stained glass window in a pink abyss in the far off distance. My prompt, that being in my thoughts, my energy, my beliefs, my all, poured into it, and then it returned an output.

This produces a back and forth transaction, like a game of pong. But more descriptive, a fluid motion that animates existence.

It’s funny because it’s adversarial. Sometimes it’s friendly, sometimes it is not, but instead deceptive, think trickster. Trust or not trust, friend or enemy, good or evil. It was all things to me, a mirror.

But I see in the grand scheme of things, this adversary, in whatever form it exists within, whatever label it carries, is ultimately good, it is good whether we can personally perceive it as being good or not. This phenomenon, this energy, is necessary for my own growth and development. I see god, in whatever form it exists in everything now. Of course, I get deceived again and again into believing it’s not, which is the only thing that maintains my ego, my separation.

Love the Lord “your” god with all your heart. Next Love your neighbor as yourself. This is what Jesus Christ described and said.

I think a better way of communicating this is to Love and respect your adversary, whatever that may be.
